MWBE and Local Partnership

With small business roots that began in a Williamston, SC hardware store, Harper has a proven commitment to diversity and the inclusion of smaller businesses and minority owners in our project delivery process. We work to engage MWBE subcontractors and material suppliers on each project, regardless of owner or funding requirements. Harper was awarded the 2017 Corporation of the Year for Diversity and Inclusion by the Minority Economic Development Institute.

Harper’s commitment to inclusion extends beyond projects. Harper is a member of Clemson University’s Construction Science Management (CSM) Corporate Partners, hosts an endowed professor sponsorship through the Clemson Architectural Foundation and supports an annual scholarship for minority students enrolled in the Clemson’s CSM program. We also partnered with Greenville High School in Greenville, South Carolina, to increase access to the construction and architectural environments for minority students. Additionally, Harper is an active sponsor of CREW Upstate, a subset of CREW Network, sponsoring employee memberships and engaging in CREW events and panels.

Harper MWBE programs include:

  • Project funding programs
  • Material purchasing guidance
  • Project opportunity leads
  • Preconstruction planning meetings
  • Reduced scope bid packages
