The significant upgrades to the existing plant included a new sodium hypochlorite generation system and new chemical feed pumps, bulk tanks, and day tanks for storage of chemicals. Additional scopes of work included a new laboratory building, raw water pump station, sludge dewatering building, and alum sludge dewatering and mixing equipment. The Project Team worked together to value engineer more than $800k out of the project, ensuring that the project moved forward while keeping the priorities of the Owner. Located on South Carolina's Lake Keowee in an upscale neighborhood, this project provided unique logistical challenges that the project team met head-on through constant communication and collaboration. This project was also the first project submitted for Envision certification in South Carolina, receiving LEED® Silver Certification for its commitment to sustainability and community involvement.
