Project Description

The scope of improvements included the construction of a raw water feed system consisting of a new 32MGD ozone generation and pre-treatment facility, new 64MGD raw water intake with passive screening on Lake Bowen, and 1,500 LF of 64” raw water main to feed the plant. Harper also performed rehabilitation on 9 of the existing 12 filters and built a new bulk alum storage facility.

The Harper team worked closely with the owner and design team to plan work to limit plant impact which included 3D scans and BIM modeling of existing conditions to avoid impacting plant operations during construction. Procurement was also scheduled to avoid traffic on the main plant road that would interfere with chemical deliveries. Harper priced and reviewed routing options for the raw water main and managed RFP solicitation for ozone system suppliers to select critical-to-design equipment early. Harper proposed a value engineering option to use a micro-tunneling system to shorten the pipeline length and significantly reduce the marine construction costs.
