Harper partnered with LS3P Neal Prince Architects and First Baptist Church Spartanburg to successfully design and construct the new student center, named the Hangar. The facility includes 30,000 SF of educational space, a 700-seat auditorium, and common spaces. The building possesses extensive AV systems throughout and the auditorium is up-fitted with the latest in multi-media technology.
Tremendous teamwork was exhibited throughout the project. The church led the process, recognizing that it must live within the budget restraints as approved by the church body. Significant efforts were made during the design development to ensure that the design and construction met the overall budget.
Desiring to design a contemporary, yet classic structure to attract students, the entire project team worked closely to meet this design intent while maintaining the most cost-effective approach. Other important cost studies involved the best structural system of the risers located inside the auditorium.
