One of the original projects run out of Harper's Western North Carolina office, the improvements to two of the City of Asheville's water treatment plants involved work in the existing backwash lagoon and filter basin as well as structural repairs to a building and clearwell. The Harper Team installed rate of flow controllers, butterfly valves, and powered actuators at six filters. The project also involved installation of RTUs and wireless transmitters at two plants, including solar panels for the wireless transmitter. A final portion of the project required the team to construct an 8-inch high pressure water line and 2-inch water line with associated hydrants. Schedule, budget, and MWBE participation were important on this project, particularly with multiple scopes of work and project sites.
